New Poco X4 Pro 5G spec leak hints at a Poco X3 Pro performance downgrade
The Poco X3 Pro made its debut last year and quickly became a fan favorite for its strong value. Xiaomi is gearing up to release the Poco X4 series, with the Poco X4 Pro 5G to lead the line, but it appears the Poco X3 Pro's successor may not be an upgrade—at least, performance-wise.
A new leak has now revealed details of what looks likely to be the Poco X4 Pro 5G. The phone was spotted a few weeks ago with the model number "2201116PG", and a new device has now appeared on China's TENAA with the model number "2201116SC". Considering Xiaomi's internal code scheme, it looks likely that both codes refer to the same device, albeit with the latter being for the Chinese market.
The leak also reveals some important specs of what we assume to be the Poco X4 Pro 5G, with the most notable takeaway seemingly being a Snapdragon 695. The Poco X3 Pro features a Snapdragon 860, which remains a considerably more powerful chipset than the Snapdragon 695. If the Poco X4 Pro 5G does turn out to be powered by a Snapdragon 695, it would be the second Xiaomi device this year to switch to a weaker SoC after the Redmi Note 11 and its Snapdragon 680.
Either way, other specs of the Poco X4 Pro 5G indicate that it could well be a rebadged Redmi Note 11 Pro 5G, as it's tipped to feature a 6.67-inch 120 Hz AMOLED, 108 MP camera, 5000 mAh battery, and 67 W fast charging. That looks to be a disappointment to Poco X3 Pro owners looking for a potential upgrade
